- Can foreign students work while studying at LCFA in the U.K?
Yes, international students are allowed to work 20 hours per week during term time and 40 hours per week during vacations. The national minimum wage is £5.73/ hour for students above 22 years. However all foreign students applying for UK visa must be able to show evidence to the Visa Issuing Officer that they have sufficient funds to maintain themselves without working or having recourse to public funds during their stay in the UK.
- What are the Minimum Entry Requirements?
Please see our Course list for more details. For Certificate level no formal qualifications are required. For Diploma and above 2 “A” Levels are required. Also a good level of English is required for all the courses. It is highly recommended that you undergo an IELTS test and an overall score of 6 plus (Academic) will be considered a good score.
- Can I get exemptions of subjects in my course?
Yes, exemptions can be granted for prior learning in same field only when the student arrives on campus and satisfies the examining body which awards the qualification. However exemptions cannot be guaranteed.
- How do I pay the fees to the college while I am outside UK?
Fees to LCFA can be paid directly via bank draft in favour of London College of Finance and Accounting payable in London or alternatively by telegraphic transfer.
- How long will it take for LCFA to process my application?
The normal outcome is within 48 hours on receipt of successful application from our side .The postal system in your country shall be responsible for delivery of the Acceptance letters in time.
- How may lectures will I have to attend per week at LCFA?
15 Hours per week. Please contact the Academic Co-ordinator on arrival for your Time-table.
- What is the mode of teaching at LCFA?
The methodology used for teaching shall comprise of classroom training, project work, case-studies, industrial training (if applicable), presentations etc. It shall be more practical oriented so that the students are ready for job the day they graduate from LCFA.
- Can LCFA help me get the visa?
LCFA is an education provider and shall issue the necessary letters to you so that you can apply for visa in your home country. We cannot canvass on your behalf with the British High Commission or Immigration authorities as it is beyond our control, however we shall advice you on the visa matters and please feel free to contact our local associate in your country who shall guide you further for more details.
- Can I extend my student visa while I am in UK studying at LCFA?
Yes, In case you wish to undergo another course at LCFA and your visa is due to expire. Please contact our international relations office in this regard 3 months in advance so they can advice you regarding the documentation and process. However it is purely up to the Home Office to issue you the extension of your stay.
- Does LCFA offer scholarships?
Yes, please contact our international admissions officer or your local representative for more details.
- Is attendance compulsory?
Yes, you need to have minimum 80% attendance to continue as student of LCFA. Students remaining absent for more than 20% without proper reasons shall be reported to the Home Office immediately.
- Can I pay my tuition fees in instalments?
Yes, you can pay your tuition fees in instalments only if your course duration is more than 1 year. For all other cases fees for 1 year should be paid in advance.
- Can I change my course of study at LCFA if I am not comfortable with my current course at LCFA?
Yes, provided it has been authorised by the Principal of LCFA. A request letter is required explaining the reasons for change of course.
- Will my tuition fees be refunded if my visa application is unsuccessful?
Yes, please refer to our Refund policy in our terms and conditions for further details.
- Does the college assist for airport pick-up and accommodation?
Yes, the student needs to inform the college regarding his/her accommodation 2 months in advance or at the time of application. The International Admissions Officer should be informed regarding the student’s arrival in the UK at least 2 weeks in advance so that our staff can organize the pick up from the airport.
- Is Health Insurance compulsory?
As an International student , studying in UK for more than 6 months duration you are eligible for free medical facilities up to a certain extent but it shall be advisable if you purchase in your home country or in the UK a health insurance covering all possible illnesses.
- Will LCFA help me open a bank account and national insurance?
Yes, the college shall provide the necessary letters for account opening and National Insurance Number purpose and the student services officer shall advise you upon your arrival at LCFA office.
- Can I get discount in local transport as a student?
As a student you are eligible for various discounts on local transportation. The student services shall guide you further upon your arrival at LCFA office.
- Can I bring my family with me to the UK?
Yes, provided they get the visa in your country. But to the best of our knowledge the entry clearance officers are not happy with such applications please check with the local British Embassy office for more details.
- Can the college help me with an appeal in case I am refused a visa?
Yes, LCFA can recommend Solicitors to act on your behalf in the UK who can appeal in the courts but such Solicitor charge a fee.
- Can LCFA help me get a work-permit or permanent residency in UK?
No, LCFA is an Education provider. Please contact your local British Embassy for more details regarding laws on the above topics.
- Can I stay in the UK upon completion of my course?
You can only stay in the UK for the duration which is mentioned on your passport. Please note that in case you overstay you may be deported from UK.
- Can I carry my local food / bring my pets to the UK?
Please consult the local British Embassy regarding the rules and custom regulations before bringing them to the UK.
- How much finance do I need to show to the Visa officer in order to obtain the visa?
You should be financially strong enough to demonstrate that you shall be able to pay your tuition fees and living expenses for the entire duration of your stay in the UK. Our Letter of Breakdown of Living Expenses can be used for reference purpose in this regard.
- Can LCFA grant me an extension for the course in case I am late?
Yes, for a maximum duration of 4 weeks. Please contact our international admissions officer in this regard.
- Will LCFA assist me getting part-time job?
Yes, the college shall assist you in making you familiar with the local job market, resume making and interview techniques and etiquettes and providing you leads for part-time jobs. However LCFA is not an employment agency nor does it guarantee any part-time jobs. Students should not depend on part-time jobs to pay for their expenses as the time frame for obtaining a part-time job varies from individual and current job scenario at that time.
